What I’m Thankful For: YOU!

I registered The Money Ninja domain back in 2014 and didn’t start “blogging” on it until 2019. I had NO idea back then that this personal finance brand I built over the years would become my full-time gig.

But that’s exactly what happened when my wife pushed me to leave my well-paid corporate career in 2022. She had confidence I could grow this site faster than splitting my time between two jobs.

“But what about health and dental?”

“What about the 401k and my company match?”

“What about the consistent paycheck?”

It’s much easier to try something when you’re young and early in your career trajectory. It’s a lot more difficult when you’re in your late 30s with a mortgage and monthly bills to pay.

In hindsight, these were minor things to worry about. As long as you give people what they want (and with a little bit of luck), this can be a viable career – Google updates be damned.

So a big THANK YOU to all my readers on this site and my viewers on the recently launched YouTube channel.

I honestly mean it. None of this could be possible without you, especially my regulars – you know who you are. I’m grateful that I’m able to do what I love while providing real value to you.

I’ll keep on sharing my knowledge about money; how to make it, save it, and spend it. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your friends and family.

Holiday Shopping

As we head into Black Friday and frenzy holiday shopping, remember to use cash back sites. It’s literally free money for just one extra click of the mouse (or tap on your phone).

Here are the trustworthy ones. All of them include a sign-up bonus when you use my referral links below (you don’t have to, but if you do, thanks for supporting me):

  • Rakuten = new members get a $50 cash back bonus when they spend $50 within 90 days
  • Shopback = grab a $15 bonus when you earn $10 in cash back and add PayPal as the withdrawal method within 180 days
  • RebatesMe = new users receive a $40 bonus when they earn $10 of cash back within 365 days of account opening
  • TopCashback = collect a $25 bonus when you open an account and earn a total of $10 in cash back
  • BeFrugal = gain a $10 bonus when you have a total of $10 in cash back within one year of becoming a BeFrugal member
  • Mr. Rebates = obtain an extra $5 bonus after your first purchase of any amount

I’ve been using cash back shopping portals since my college days and the total money earned back is well into six figures by now.

If My Family Reads This Post…

Obviously, you guys know you’re not left out of my thoughts. I’m also incredibly thankful for my loving family:

  • For my mom and dad, for being extremely brave to escape Viet Nam after the war and giving your children the chance to grow up in a better country. For all its fault, it’s still America!
  • For my brother for all the shared childhood memories, including our intense video game competitions where I smashed you 9 out of 10 times 🙂
  • And for my loving wife, who somehow has put up with my for the past 10 years. I love you very, very, very much. Thanks for making me a better person.

And that’s it for this quick post. I hope everyone has a great day. Feel free to share some of the things you’re thankful for in the comments below or even a crazy deal you’ve scored this holiday season!
