12 Best Apps Like Fetch Rewards (2022)

Millions of people use rewards apps like Fetch Rewards to save extra money and earn rewards. Out of all the cash back apps and rewards apps available, Fetch Rewards is one the most popular.

But it doesn’t mean you should use just one app. There are other apps like Fetch Rewards that you can double-dip with or even earn cash back on.

That’s why I browsed through the entire library of Google Play and Apple Store apps to find the best apps like Fetch Rewards to help you maximize your finances.

Let’s get started!

Fetch Rewards app has been downloaded 26 million times and has over 13 million active users, making it unquestionably the most popular mobile rewards app today.

The main reason for this is because it’s so easy to use. All you have to do is scan your receipt with the app and you’ll receive points immediately.

Apps Like Fetch Rewards Overview
(Image from Fetch Rewards)

When Fetch Rewards initially launched, you could only upload grocery and supermarket receipts. But now you can earn points from any shopping receipt, from places like restaurants, gas stations, and coffee shops.

The app pays $1 for every 1,000 points, which you can either cash out or redeem for gift cards at hundreds of popular brands including Amazon, Target, and Starbucks.

You can start redeeming once you have at least 3,000 points, so you don’t need much before you get rewarded.

New users that download the app and enter the Fetch referral code MONEYNINJA will get 3,000 points as a sign-up bonus. You’ll also earn an additional 1,000 points after you scan your first few receipts for a total bonus of 4,000 points.

I also wrote an in-depth review of the app and created a list of the best Fetch Rewards hacks that shows you how to earn points faster.

12+ Other Apps Like Fetch Rewards

All the apps listed below are free and available on both Android and iOS devices. So if you’re asking what apps are like Fetch Rewards, chances are you’ll find a new one here that will provide you more savings and rewards.

The best part is many of these rewards apps can be used simultaneously to maximize your shopping trips.

1. Ibotta

Ibotta is a top-ranked receipt app that gives you actual cash back on your grocery store, supermarket, and everyday purchases. Here are a few grocery stores that you can earn rewards from with Ibotta:

  • Whole Foods Market
  • Walmart
  • Target
  • Trader Joe’s
  • Kroger
  • Shaw’s
  • Market Basket
  • Star Market
  • Aldi
  • Costco
  • Sam’s Club
  • BJ’s

While people love to compare Fetch Rewards vs Ibotta, they’re different in a number of ways. Similar to Fetch Rewards, Ibotta lets you redeem your earnings for gift cards at popular brands and cash via PayPal or Venmo.

The difference is that Ibotta generally pays more than Fetch Rewards. Although to earn rewards with Ibotta, you need to add individual offers in the app before you scan your receipt. Contrast this to Fetch Rewards where you simply scan your receipt – there’s no need to add offers one by one (besides Special Offers).

It’s definitely worth it though and I personally use both apps to maximize my savings.

If you’re new, use this link to download the app and use Ibotta referral code HCWNHFU to earn a $10 welcome bonus.

2. Shopkick

What’s unique about Shopkick is that you don’t have scan receipts to earn points. You can get rewards for doing things like walking into a store or scanning barcodes of products. You can even earn points at home for watching videos and browsing content in the Shopkick app.

The app pays you reward points, which they call “kicks”, that you can redeem for gift cards.

250 kicks are equivalent to one dollar based on their redemption levels:

  • $2 = 500 kicks
  • $5 = 1,250 kicks
  • $10 = 2,500 kicks
  • $15 = 3,750 kicks
  • $25 = 6,250 kicks

Join with the Shopkick promo code GIFT271471 and get an extra 500 kicks when make your first in-store scan within the first seven days of account opening. This is worth an extra $2 on top of the standard $5 bonus provided for new users.

3. Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is another popular grocery receipt cash back app available in the United States and Canada. It’s a free app just like Fetch Rewards

To use Checkout 51, check what offers are available for the week (new offers are released every Thursday) and add items you plan on buying to your shopping list. After you purchase the items from a store, simply take a picture of the receipt using the app to earn cash back.

The cash back earned is credited to your account within minutes and is available to cash out once your balance reaches $20. You can choose either to be paid by check or via PayPal.

Similar to Ibotta, Checkout 51 is a little bit more manual than Fetch Rewards, but the rebates are often more lucrative.

Checkout 51 used to offer a $5 sign-up bonus, but unfortunately they stopped their referral program on July 31, 2020.

4. Receipt Hog

Receipt Hog is a fun and rewarding way to turn receipts from any store into cash – no matter where you shop or what you buy.

This platform is exactly like Fetch Rewards because it doesn’t require you to claim offers or go to specific stores. Simply snap pictures of your receipts to earn coins and then redeem those coins for rewards.

You can snap up to 20 qualifying receipts per week. Coins earned per receipt depends on the receipt total:

  • Under $10 = 5 Coins
  • $10 – $50 = 10 Coins
  • $50 – $100 = 15 Coins
  • Over $100 = 20 Coins

The coins are worth between 0.5¢ to 0.6¢ each. Minimum reward redemption is 1,000 Coins for a $5 Amazon gift card, Visa gift card, or cash via PayPal.

You’ll also earn 1 Spin at the Hog Slots for each receipt. At the Hog Slots slot machine, you can win bonus Coins and other prizes, like having your last shopping trip paid for!

New users will receive 5 free spins at Hog Slots when they enter Receipt Hog referral code SUSS4459 during sign-up.

5. Rakuten

Rakuten is a cash back shopping portal that earns real cash back from thousands of popular retail brands.

While Rakuten isn’t a receipt-scanning app, it’s still one of the best Fetch Rewards alternatives if you shop online from your computer or mobile device.

All you have to do is use Rakuten to click through to the store you want to shop at and once you make a purchase, Rakuten will give you a percentage of your total purchase back as cash.

(Screenshot of Rakuten app)

Typically, Rakuten offers cash back between 1% to 5%, but they have many offers that pay 10% to 20% (or more). How much you get back depends on what store you shop at and if special offers or promotions are available.

To date, I’ve earned over $2,500 by using Rakuten to shop online (mainly from Dell, Best Buy, and eBay). It’s one of my favorite alternatives to Fetch Rewards and one of the best cash back apps available.

6. Google Opinion Rewards

Google Opinion Rewards is another alternative to Fetch Rewards, but with a slight twist.

It’s an app that pays you to scan receipts just like Fetch Rewards, but it also pays you for your opinion on very short surveys (usually one or two questions). They’re super quick to do… like complete a survey in under 30 seconds quick.

You get 12¢ for every receipt you scan and earn up to $1.00 for every survey you complete. I’ve earned almost $100 just by taking quick surveys while waiting for the subway or scanning a few receipts during TV commercials.

The money gets added to your Google Play balance and you can spend it at the Play Store to buy a Play Pass, game subscriptions and fees, apps, and books.

7. Amazon Shopper Panel

Amazon Shopper Panel is another app that pays you for your receipts. Although it’s a bit different from Fetch Rewards as it’s an invite-only program, it allows you to make $10 per month when you upload receipts.

You need to scan at least 10 non-Amazon receipts or forward 10 email receipts to receipts@panel.amazon.com in order to earn cash for that month. Each month that you do so, you’ll earn $10 towards an Amazon Balance.

That equates to making $1 per receipt scanned, which is on the high-end of compensation for receipt scanning apps. You can make extra money if you complete surveys too.

Amazon Panel is open to U.S. Amazon customers. To join, download the Amazon Shopper Panel app and join the waitlist. You can start earning money as soon as Amazon extends an invitation.

8. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a rewards program with over 20 million registered users. It was launched in 2008 and rewards people for doing things like shopping online, taking surveys, and watching videos.

There are seven different ways to earn “Swagbucks”, or “SB” for short, which are points that you can redeem for cash or gift cards. Generally, 1 SB point is worth 1 cent – so 100 SB points is worth $1 dollar:

  • Scanning receipts
  • Shop online (similar to Rakuten)
  • Take surveys
  • Participate in special offers
  • Watch videos (commercials and advertisements)
  • Browse the web
  • Play games

Scanning receipts is a new Swagbucks feature and that makes it a viable alternative to Fetch Rewards.

Snap any receipt to earn SB points. You can earn bonus points for specific offers too, like earning 100 SB points for uploading a receipt with eggs:

Apps Like Fetch Rewards: Swagbucks
(Screenshot of Swagbucks app)

Those points are equivalent to $1, which is a nice return on a common grocery item! And like Fetch Rewards, Swagbucks accepts receipts from different types of stores, including:

  • Grocery stores (Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Kroger’s)
  • Warehouse clubs (Sam’s Club, Costco, BJs)
  • Convenience stores (7-Eleven, Circle K, Cumberland Farms)
  • Drug stores (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid)
  • Liquor stores (Daveco Liquors, State Wine Outlets, Total Wine and more)

In fact, there are over 1,100 eligible stores and restaurants in the United States, the U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and India.

Popular stores in that list include 7-Eleven, Aldi, Kroger, Starbucks, Target, and Walmart.

Most of the other ways to earn SB points are what I like to call “beer money”. Beer money means a small amount of money somebody earns that can pay for insignificant expenses, for example on beer.

To maximize your earnings potential, I would only use Swagbucks to scan receipts, shop online, and participate in special offers. Those are the ones that are worth it to me.

The rest are okay to do once in a while. However, I wouldn’t spend my entire day watching commercials and browsing the web. It’s not really worth my time to sit through 30-second videos to earn 1-2 SB points.

Sign up for Swagbucks and get a $10 bonus.

9. NCPMobile

NCPMobile is a grocery shopping app of National Consumer Panel that lets you earn gift cards and other shopping rewards for telling them about the items you purchase.

Use the NCPMobile app to scan UPC barcodes of the items you buy (or tell them a little bit about non-barcoded items), and in turn you’ll earn reward points to redeem for gift cards and other rewards.

The app also pays you for answering short surveys, so you’ll be on your way to collecting your rewards even faster.

Gift card rewards start at just $10, which takes about 35 or so product scans. However, there’s no cash redemption options like PayPal, Venmo, or Visa gift cards.

This shopping rewards app is available on both Android and iOS and has garnered favorable reviews from users. Comments from Google Play user “nkyjenn 79” pretty much summed up most people’s experience by stating:

“I love the NCP app! I can scan on the go as I make purchases instead of waiting [till] I’m home from running errands.

It creates less chaos when I get home with groceries and everyone is either looking for food or putting away perishables while I’m trying to scan items before disappearing from the kitchen.

I’ve been using this app for over 2 years on a few different devices and it’s never crashed or had issues. A+++”

If you’re already using reward apps like Fetch Rewards to make money, adding NCP Mobile into the routine to get even more rewards should feel easy-to-do and seamless.

10. ReceiptPal

ReceiptPal is similar to Fetch Rewards because it’s not just a grocery rewards app, but a general receipt scanning app.

In fact, ReceiptPal is exactly like Fetch Rewards because you’ll earn rewards for uploading almost any shopping receipt. There’s no digital coupon clipping or opt-in offers to worry about.

Any receipt is eligible to earn rewards as long as you submit it within a week of the purchase date, it includes the retailer information, and shows the amount you spent.

Scan every receipt that fits those criteria, which is just about everything. Upload receipts from grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and more.

Each receipt will award points to your ReceiptPal account. Once you earn enough points, you can redeem them for free gift cards to stores like:

  • Amazon
  • The Home Depot
  • Target
  • Lowe’s
  • Starbucks
  • Walmart
  • Visa gift card

ReceiptPal doesn’t have special offers like Fetch Rewards or bonuses like Ibotta, making it less lucrative than those top two receipt scanning apps. So while you won’t make money fast with it, ReceiptPal makes up for this slightly by accepting almost any receipt.

11. Dosh

Dosh is a cashback app that gives you automatic cashback at thousands of places when you shop, dine, or book hotels. You can earn up to 10% cash back at retailers and restaurants and up to 40% cash back at hotels that Dosh partners with.

I love that I don’t have to clip coupons or scan receipts with Dosh. Once you connect a credit card or debit card to it, the app will automatically give you cash back if you purchase something with one of their partners.

On a typical day, I get my morning coffee from Dunkin’ and earn 4% back with Dosh. Then, I take a short Uber to my office that earns 50¢ cashback per ride as an existing rider. If I order office supplies at Staples or Office Depot/OfficeMax, that’s another 2% I get back in cash.

Download Dosh and get a $5 welcome bonus after your first use with Dosh referral code JOHNP159).

12. Upside

Upside (formerly GetUpside) is another alternative to Fetch Rewards that earns cash back at gas stations, groceries, and restaurants.

The company started as a gas app where you earn cash back for every gallon of gas that you buy. It has since expanded to include grocery stores and restaurants as places you can earn money back at.

To earn cash with the Upside app, you need to use the app to check-in at the place you’re visiting, use a connected credit card or debit card to make a purchase, and then scan your receipt afterwards.

The Money Ninja readers get an exclusive 25¢ per gallon cash back bonus when they sign up with this link and enter the Upside promo code NINJA25.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do cash back apps like Fetch Rewards make money?

Cash back apps collect anonymous data from your receipts and combine it with receipts from others. This information helps companies make product and marketing decisions based on consumer purchase behavior.

Are cash back apps safe?

Yes, they are. None of the personal identifying information on your receipts is used. Rather, general shopping data is collected and rolled up with receipts from other shoppers.

Is there a better app than Fetch Rewards?

It depends on your shopping habits. For example, Ibotta is better for earning cash rewards on groceries while Rakuten is perfect for people who primarily shop online.

Overall, Fetch Rewards is still considered one of the best grocery rewards apps since they provide a bonus for buying items from partnership brands and offers some of the best gift card redemption options.

Fetch Rewards vs Ibotta – which is better?

It’s a tie. Each has their pros and cons, but why pick just one? Use both and maximize your rewards from scanning receipts – double-dipping is awesome!

What other apps like Fetch Rewards do Reddit users like?

Reddit users who love earning rewards from scanning receipts are always discussing other apps like Fetch Rewards. Apps like Ibotta, Receipt Hog, and Checkout 51 are frequently brought up in conversations.

The Bottom Line

Of course there are more apps like Fetch Rewards that isn’t mentioned here. There are literally hundreds of rewards apps that pretend they’re legit and worth using.

But after testing out all the apps available on Android and Apple, I can tell you there are much more “rewards apps” that are sketchy and not worth your time than legitimate ones.

I cross-checked my experiences with others to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Reddit was extremely helpful as many users on there are looking for apps like Fetch Rewards too.

The options above are some of the best ones out there and will help you get a little something back. Whether it’s scanning grocery receipts with Ibotta, uploading gas purchases with Upside, or general cash back portals like Rakuten – there’s something on this list for everyone.

What works for you will depend on where you typically shop at and how much time you’re willing to put in the extra work.

If you’re crunched on time, I would probably stick with Fetch Rewards since it just requires you to scan a receipt. If you want the highest amount of rewards that take a little effort, I recommend Ibotta for its outsized earnings potential.

Don’t worry if you don’t know right away what apps are best for you. All of the rewards app mentioned are free to use so try a few out until you find one that works.

Now it’s up to you. Am I truly missing a great rewards app? Is there a cash back app you can’t believe I didn’t mention that deserve to be part of this list of the best Fetch Rewards alternatives?
