Here are the 7 best cash back apps that will save you money! Earning cash back on your purchases is a great way to make some extra money. Today, I’ll go over the most rewarding cash back apps that I find the best value in!

Cash Back Apps Overview

There are tons of ways to make some extra money online, but most of them involve so much time completing boring tasks and activities. It’s not for everyone.

Enter cash back apps.

Cash back apps are one of the few available ways to earn cash by doing something you do anyway: shopping.

Everyone needs to buy food, gas, and clothes. Maybe you’re heading to Home Depot for a renovation project or buying flowers for a loved one.

No matter where you are in life, you’re buying stuff, even if it’s just the basics. When you think about how much you spend each month, earning as low as 1% of that through cash back would really add up over the course of a year – and many apps offer far more than 1%.

Even better, you can also combine these apps with conventional coupons and discounts to supercharge your savings.

So without further ado, here are the best cash back apps to save more of your hard earned money – right from the palm of your hand!

7 Best Cash Back Apps For 2020

  1. Mr. Rebates
  2. Rakuten
  3. Seated
  4. Ritual
  5. Fetch Rewards
  6. GetUpside
  7. Freebird

1. Mr. Rebates

There are a lot of cash back shopping sites around. It’s hard to know which ones are real and which one are scams. I’ve been using Mr. Rebates since 2007 and consider it the best overall cash back shopping portal available.

Shop at your favorite retailers and earn a percentage of cash back on your purchase – all popular places including The Home Depot, Nike, Dell, Staples, and eBay are listed on Mr. Rebates!

You can withdraw your cash back balance through PayPal or request a paper check. This free way of saving money has given me back over $2,500+ so far!

2. Rakuten

Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is another cash back shopping site that earns real cash. Like Mr. Rebates, Rakuten will pay you via PayPal or a check. You’ll get a $10 bonus for signing up and spending $25 within the first 3 months as a member.

It’s worth having both Mr. Rebates and Rakuten installed on your phone. You can’t use both of them at the same time, but you can look and see which one is paying more cash back at the store you are buying things from.

As an example, if I’m making a purchase at Nike, Mr. Rebates is offering 5% back on my purchase whereas Rakuten is giving me 10%. Of course I’m going to use Rakuten in this instance. Other times, Mr. Rebates will earn more.

My advice is to check every time before you make a purchase.

3. Seated

Seated is the most generous restaurant reservation app, EVER.

The Seated app pays back up to 40% of your total restaurant bill; you’ll earn this whether you:

  • dine in at the restaurant
  • pick up from the establishment
  • delivered to your home

In fact, if the app was available in more cities (currently available in Boston, New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, and Philadelphia), I would’ve gave Seated the #1 spot on this “Best Cash Back Apps” list.

All you have to do is make a reservation or place an order on the app and then upload a picture of the receipt.

Once you upload your receipt, Seated will notify you how much you’ve earned for that order. The Seated app is so generous that earning a lot is not that hard. Date night? Corporate dinner event? Night out with friends? Put it on Seated.

If you’re not in one of the cities that Seated is available in, then the Ritual app may be the answer. It’s available in 43 major cities:

  • Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Brisbane, Calgary, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Edmonton, Fort Worth, Halifax, Hamilton, Hong Kong, Houston, Indianapolis, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Montréal, New Orleans, New York, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington DC, Waterloo

Ritual is a “social-ordering” app that allows users to place an order for a meal and have it ready to be picked up at a local restaurant. Not only will you skip the line and save time, you’ll also earn cash back points on each order.

While ordering food on your app in not new, what’s unique with Ritual is that it allows you to “piggyback” on other orders that are being placed around the time same time during the work week. That way, one person can head to the restaurant and bring back all the office’s orders at once.

7. Freebird

Do you use Uber or Lyft?

If so, then you can earn cash back with Freebird every time you use one of those ridesharing apps to get a ride.

The Freebird app doesn’t replace Uber or Lyft, you’ll still be using them as you normally would. Instead, Freebird just connects to those apps to allow you to take a ride on either through its own app.

The Bottom Line

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and see why those are the best cash back apps available.

There are so many other cash back apps that it’s impossible to cover all of them. I’m open to revising this list as time goes on, so I have a couple of questions to all The Money Ninja readers out there.

What am I missing? What should be included in future lists of the best cash back apps?

  1. Nice article 🙂 What i do to save money is to make money 🙂 and i use Honeygain for it. So, it makes me around $30 per month just by leaving this app running on my devices background. Basically what it does it just sells my unused internet traffic. Plus, you can always use extra $5 coupon secret5 to add some extra earnings.

    • Thanks for bringing up Honeygain! Nice to see it making people money in the background.

I think I’ve heard of it vaguely, but this is only a desktop app right? Are there apps for Apple or Android?
