Fetch Rewards Review: 3 Ways To Earn Points Fast

Fetch Rewards is an app that lets you earn gift cards and cash back for snapping your grocery ad shopping receipts! It’s so simple and easy that even your grandma can do it.

The biggest thing I’ve learned since creating this site is that not only do people love making extra money (across all income levels), but they REALLY love it when they can do it effortlessly.

This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I get a commission at no cost to you if you decide to make a purchase through my links. Visit this page for more information. The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of the offers mentioned may have expired.

What is Fetch Rewards?

Fetch Rewards is a mobile app that lets you earn rewards just for scanning your grocery receipts. It’s available to download both on Apple iOS and Google Android phones.

To enter the sign-up bonus code manually, go to the “Me” section at the bottom right-hand corner of the app and then click on “Refer for Points“. You can enter a referral code anytime before you scan your first grocery receipt.

The biggest advantage Fetch Rewards has over their competitors is that it doesn’t care where you shop at, it allows you to scan shopping receipts from ANY types of stores, including:

  • Grocery Stores (Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Kroger’s)
  • Warehouse Clubs (Sam’s Club, Costco, BJs)
  • Convenience Stores (7-Eleven, Circle K, Cumberland Farms)
  • Drug Stores (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid)
  • Liquor Stores (Daveco Liquors, State Wine Outlets, Total Wine and More)

Although the Fetch Rewards app has existed for a while, it only became very popular in the last couple of years now that 81% of Americans own a smart phone. That’s up from 2011 when it was just 35%. Grandparents are using smart phones!

3 Ways to Earn Points with Fetch Rewards

First Method: Scan All Your Grocery Receipts

If you want simple, this is it. Once you shop, just open up your app and take a picture of your grocery receipt. Even if you only buy one item, Fetch Rewards will give you at least 25 points per receipt.

(Screenshot of Fetch Rewards app)

Ninja Tip: For long receipts, scan one section at a time. The app will allow you to take more pictures to get the whole receipt uploaded.

It’s not the most rewarding way, but it adds up fast. A typical weekend for me would involve going to a grocery store to buy food for the week, stopping by a pharmacy to pick up something real quick, and going to the liquor store for a bottle of wine (my wife’s an alcoholic… I hope she doesn’t read this). That’s at least 3 receipts on the weekend alone!

Fetch Reward users have scanned a whopping 161 million receipts with the app:

Assuming that’s all they did, those 161 million receipts at are worth over $4 million dollars (I’ll get to how much these points are worth in the next section)!

Second Method: Buy From Participating Brands

The second way which earns more points is to buy products from major brands that participate in the program. These are well-known companies that you’re probably already buying from today. For instance, take a look at some of the beauty and personal care brands Fetch Rewards partners with:

Examples of beauty and personal care brands that partner with Fetch Rewards
(Image from Fetch Rewards)

Here’s the full list for the beauty and personal care category:

  • ApotheCARE Essentials
  • Axe
  • Caress
  • Clear
  • Degree
  • Depend
  • Dove (including Dove Men+Care)
  • Kotex
  • Lever 2000
  • Love Beauty and Planet
  • Nexxus
  • Poise
  • Pond’s
  • Q-tips
  • Simple
  • St. Ives
  • Suave
  • The Right to Shower
  • Tigi
  • Toni&Guy
  • TRESemme
  • Vaseline

As you can see, these are brands that you’re all familiar with and likely already use, so why not get rewarded for it?

And the best part? There’s no additional steps needed. When you scan your receipt, the app will automatically find what you bought and give you extra points based on the cost of the product. No coupon clipping or barcode scanning necessary!

To find the list of all the brands you’ll earn extra points on, just click on the “Discover” icon on the app. They’re under a section named “Brands that always earn you points”.

Third Method: Purchase A Special Offer Product

The BEST way to earn the biggest amount of points is to buy the special offers they have on certain products. To see what special offers you have, click on the same “Discover” icon tab and scroll down a little. Below the section “Brands that always earn you points” is another area called “Special Offers made for you”. It’s here where you’ll see what products you can buy and the amount of bonus points Fetch Rewards will give you:

(Screenshot of Fetch Rewards app)

There’s about 50 special offers that show up here that get you anywhere from an extra 100 points to all the way up to 3,000 points. All the special offers are on a limited time basis, and they change all the time so check back often for new deals.

How much are Fetch Rewards points worth?

Fetch Rewards points have a fixed value; 1,000 points is equivalent to $1. This is based on my research of the value of things you can redeem for, which brings us to the next section…

What can I redeem Fetch Rewards points for?

Fetch Rewards has partnered with a ton of popular places for you to redeem your points for gift cards! There’s too many to list here, but favorites include stores like Amazon, Target, Walmart, Uber, eBay, and Home Depot. You can start redeeming for gift cards once you’ve reach 3,000 points.

There’s also the option of redeeming them for Visa and Mastercard gift cards, but I wouldn’t recommend it because these are the only two choices where the redemption rate is worse. For example, a $10 Visa card will costs 11,500 in points whereas a $10 gift card anywhere else only costs 10,000:

What else should I know about Fetch Rewards?

Another benefit of the app is that is acts as a budgeting tool for your groceries. Not only does it scan your grocery receipts, but it separates it out by store, types of food, and how much you’ve spent per month – and it does this with nice looking charts so you can visually keep track of monthly spend.

Fetch Rewards Referral Program

You can refer your friends and family to the app. To access the referral section, click on the “Me” icon in the app, it will bring you to your account info page. You’ll find your referral code that you can share with others there.

Once your friends or family sign up, you’ll earn an additional 100 to 1,000 points per person depending on the referral offer at the time.

The Bottom Line

Fetch Rewards is another great app because it’s free to use and rewards you for something you’re already doing! I make it a habit of taking a picture of my receipt right away so I don’t forget later.

No, not “right away” like while I’m still in the grocery store (I’m not that neurotic), but once I go home, I’ll unpack my groceries, take a picture of my receipt, and then go about my day. Don’t procrastinate, that’s not The Money Ninja way!

It doesn’t look like Fetch Rewards is going out of business anytime soon either. The company was founded in 2013 and has 7 major investors pouring in over $50 million in capital.

Forgive me if this question has already been answered, but if you scan a receipt that you forgot you already scanned, I understand you don’t get credit for it, but does that duplicate scan count toward your limit of 35 scans in 7 days?

When scanning receipts, do you have to have the physical receipt in hand from the actual brick and mortar store, or is there a way to scan an email/app order confirmation of a purchase from say Amazon, Target, etc. ?

I signed up w/ Fetch using the code you provided that says 4500 points when join & submit 1st receipt. I only got the 2000 I have submitted 2 receipts got credit for my planters purchases but that was all.

Also just noticed it says 4,500 as 2,000 sign up & 1,500 for 1st receipt which is 3,500 which I didn’t get that amount either.

Do they change the referral offer often?

Anyone want to help out a newbie can use my referral code.. A4AJH Hope this is okay I saw you reply to another it would be okay if I added something

Thanks Again
