The Bottom Line
You can also open a Betterment Investing account with $10 to get the same $75 bonus. To summarize:
- Betterment Checking = $75 cash back for opening an account and funding it with $1
- Betterment Savings (Cash Reserve) = $75 cash back for opening an account and funding it with $10
- Betterment Investing = $75 cash back for opening an account and funding it with $10
This is a very easy, no-requirements bonus for accounts I’ve never seen a sign-up offer for. Some people may want to open the checking account anyway with it’s $0 fee (no overdraft, low balance, or ATM fees) structure and free rewards debit card.
I have a Rakuten, but when I am not directed to Betterment Account offer via your link. I also can’t find it when I do a general search.
The special offer just ended last week. I’ll update the post. Check out all the Swagbucks offers that offer very similar deals.
Thank you for the feedback & great find!
It looks like the $128 version has already been pulled, as Rakuten is now back to showing a $75 bonus.
Thanks Portland – updated the post to reflect this.
No problem! To clarify, I can open up a checking account through Rakuten, obtain the bonus offer within a matter of days, and then close out the bank account almost immediately and pay zero early termination fees while also getting to keep 100% of the bonus? That’s my understanding of it right now. Is that correct?
Correct, but keep in mind the bonus will post as soon as your $1 clears into your Betterment checking account (or $10 if you’re opening a savings or investing account). Mine took 5 days to clear, but that’s really it!
