Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The $100 bonus offer is from TheMoneyNinja.com, itโs not reflected on the UFB Direct website. As long as you open your new account with the instruction provided in this post, then yes, youโre in the right place!
Thereโs a text field on the UFB Direct application that allows you to enter a code, which can lead to some confusion. However, because the $100 is paid by TheMoneyNinja.com, no code needs to be entered.
Instead, follow the instructions in this post to create a link to open your new account and youโll be automatically enrolled in the bonus offer.
Besides your email address and funding status to track your eligibility, TheMoneyNinja.com will not receive any other personal information about you.
Any personal information you share during account opening will be directly with UFB Direct, a division of Axos Bank. UFB Direct will verify to us that youโve completed the steps to qualify for the bonus and nothing more.
If you complete all the offer requirements, which means that youโve opened a new UFB Savings account, funded the account with at least $15,000 within 30 days of account opening, and maintained the balance of at least $15,000 for 30 calendar days, then youโll receive the $100 bonus via the email address that you provided in creating your sign-up link within 60 days.
Please be aware that closing the account within 45 days of account opening will forfeit the bonus.
Yes. While UFB Direct is a division of Axos Bank, opening a brand new UFB Savings account will still qualify you for this bonus.
As a current Axos Bank customer, their website may direct you to the Axos login to streamline your process, but as long as your new UFB Direct account is approved, funded, and remains open for at least 45 days, youโll receive the $100 bonus offer.
The Bottom Line
UFB Direct has consistently ranked at or near the top among banks that offer savings accounts with the highest yields. Itโs one of the savings accounts I personally use to save money.
You can learn more about this account and my first-hand experience as a customer in this review. itโs a solid bank that Iโve been very happy to bank with, but it does have a couple of minor quirks: funds take a little longer to clear, and you need to occasionally chase rates when they update.
For full disclosure, although we have an affiliate relationship with Axos Bank/UFB Direct, they are not paying us anything extra to promote this. We are giving a significant part of our commissions back to our readers as a holiday thank you for your continued support.
While there were other sites that offered something similar in the past, to my knowledge, this is currently the only account opening bonus available for a UFB Direct Savings account.
Hey, John I sent an email 3 days ago regarding the $100 Bonus Gift Card that I still haven’t received and I completed all requirements. Please get back to me. Thanks
Please check your spam mail as that’s been responded to.
My DP:
Opened Account: 2-1-24
Funded Account: 2-4-24
Received Bonus: 4-25-24
Account Opened = 1/30/2024
Deposit of $30K+ Completed = 2/10/2024
Bonus of $100 Received = 4/4/2024
No issues at all and the account has already earned several hundred dollars in interest at 5.25%. Actual APY was closer to 9% in a two-month period when you consider the $100 bonus.
Hi John is the $100 bonus still available?
Yes, it’s still available!
Account Opened 12/6/2023
>$5000 Deposit Completed 12/13/2023
Deposit Amount >$5000 was maintained thru Day 21
60 Days Was Over on 2/11/2024
Why haven’t I received the $100 gift card? Please advise, John. Thanks.
Hi J.L., please reach out to me via email. The account tied to your email account reported a balance of $211.76 when it was sent to us for bonus distribution. If this isn’t right, we can look into it.
Thanks for resolving the issue for me, John! Received the $100 gift card.
Just a heads up for those applying – I already have a UFB Savings account and the APY is 4.5%, not 5.25%.
No, it is 5.25%, you have an old rate. Call or chat with Axos and request they update your savings account to the current rate.
Thank you for your advice, Liz. I’ve done so and the change has been made. Is this something I’m going to have to plan to do routinely throughout the life of the account? That seems a bit dodgy on the bank’s part if so…
H John,
3 family members are interested in bonus but wonder if the 1st 100 cut off is reached.
Do you have open spots?
Thanks for your reply!
The bonus for this month just started yesterday (December 1st) so you’re good to go! I’ll announce at the top of this page when it’s completed.
If I put money into the new account and reached $5000 early, and then start spending some money from this account, so that on the 21th day of account opening my balance is less than $5000, do I still qualify for the bonus? Please clarify.
BTW in the FAQ section you wrote 10 days instead which should be corrected.
Hi Victor, we get very limited information from Axos Bank/UFB Direct for privacy reasons. To err on the safe side, I’d keep at least $5,000 by Day 21. After that, you can spend whatever amount you’d like as long as your account remains open for 45 days.
Thanks for pointing that out in FAQ – it’s been corrected!
Does this start EST or local time?
Hey Greg! I will update the page when it’s live. New in December is a relatively small minimum deposit requirement to discourage some people from just depositing a nominal amount of money to receive the bonus.
I love giving out bonuses, but the point is to encourage people to save and encourage Axos Bank to keep this promotion ongoing.
Edit: It’s now live! Minimum funding amount is $5,000.
John, I noticed they have a money market account at 5.25% interest too. Do you know if it’s possible to use the money market account as a primary checking account similar to a Fidelity CMA?
UFB’s Money Market offers the same rate as the Savings account, but it requires a $5,000 minimum balance to waive the $10 monthly fee (the savings account has no monthly service fees). But, it does have the ability to write checks. I actually like the Fidelity Cash Management Account a lot more. Fidelity’s debit card provides ATM fee reimbursements for machines that assess one. If you travel internationally, they use actual exchange rates without a mark-up. This is not to say UFB’s MMA is bad, but checking accounts like the Fidelity one you mentioned is better.
Long overdue data point for those who are participating in the current promotion:
8/14/23: Applied for a UFB Savings account late in the evening.
8/15/23: Received email that my account has been approved.
8/15/23: Pushed a transfer from my Bank of America checking account to my new UFB Savings account.
8/18/23: Deposit cleared at UFB.
10/6/23: Received email from TMN with a link to redeem $100 Visa GC.
I’m happy with how it worked out and the rates have been adjusted once already to remain at the top of the rates chart.
It’s been a week and the transfer is still pending. This is not a bank for those who need to move money around quickly lol
Hi John,
I just want to ensure that i was included with the 100$ signup.
I created the application before the cutoff and the account was funded today.
Thanks
I see you in the system, Derek. Anyone who applied before the cutoff date is automatically eligible.
Awesome, thanks John.
Bizarre it doesn’t even reflect the transfers anywhere after you initiate them, or at least it didn’t for me.
Hello John, are you able to see my email in the system/will I be eligible for the offer?
Thank you!
Yes, you’re in the system!
Thank you!
I had this page on my tab opened since yesterday and I was trying to sign up but it was having issues. I found out I just had to clear my cookies. I applied and refreshed this page and just saw the cutoff time. I just signed up about 30 mins after the cutoff time.
Would I still be eligible?
Hi Eric, I’ll make a one-time exception due to your circumstance ๐
Thank you! Much appreciated!
When will I get the bonus? I already funded the account
He says it right in the post: “Receive an exclusive TheMoneyNinja.com reward within 60 days of meeting all requirements, in the form of a digital $100 Visa gift card.”
I’m in, deposit in process of transferring.
I applied just a few minutes ago – am I one of the first 100 applicants?
Yes, I will update this post when the limit has been reached.
Great, thank you!
OK so a wire transfer is immediate and so is a ATM withdraw. So relax
I just signed up, thanks. 5 biz days for deposit to process is rough.
Up to 5 business days to clear funds is definitely on the longer side. I know they’re trying to reduce that to a more “standard” 2-3 business days. I use the account as a purely save and hold account for my long-term savings and not something I would need access to immediately.
Hi John,
I had signed up before there was a deposit requirement but, I didn’t receive any gift card. I used the email from this comment. Please let me know if I should expect the bonus. Thanks
Hi Von – can you send me an email and we can look into this? I don’t see your email tagged in the system.
