Avoiding Checking Account Fees

I don’t see any monthly service fees across the eligible checking accounts.

The Bottom Line

This is an easy bonus and I have added in to the best checking account bonuses.

There’s also a $100 referral bonus for both parties. In order to stack both bonuses, you need to register using the referral link first before you apply. I recommend people to use the same email address and name to make sure the connection between the referral registration and account opening is crystal clear.

I’m applying later next week so I don’t have a valid referral link yet. If one of my readers have this account already, I’m more than happy to use yours.

The High-Yield Checking account offers a 3.04% APY (as of 11/18/25) up to the first $25,000 if the rate requirements are met (eDocuments enrollment, active direct deposit of $1,000 or more in the previous month, and 15 debit/credit card transactions over $5 in the previous month). That’s really solid for a checking account.

I would put just enough money to earn the bonus or enough to earn the High-Yield Checking account rate. Otherwise, you should plunk the rest of your short-term cash in a high-yield savings account.
