Many companies realize that consumer behaviors and routines have shifted dramatically due to COVID-19 and that the value proposition they offered customers may not be as valuable during this time. American Express recognizes this, and so, effective in May 2020 until the end of the year, they are adding new benefits to all of their cards.
Temporarily AMEX Benefits for 2020
American Express Platinum Card

My wireless cell phone bill like most people is higher than $20. What I plan to do is to pay exactly $20 with my AMEX Platinum card and charge the rest to my Chase Ink Preferred card because it earns 5x per dollar spent on wireless service. Free $20 every month!

The Bottom Line
A lot of useful benefits, even if it’s just temporary. Kudos for American Express knowing that the many travel benefits they offer isn’t valuable when most people can’t or won’t travel.
AMEX is not only adding new benefits, but they’re tailoring to how people spend money while they’re stuck at home – grocery shopping, using their phone, watching programs on streaming services.
What are people using the Dell credits for from the AMEX Platinum?
I use it to buy digital Xbox gift cards. They can be used at the Microsoft store online or in-store for anything (computers, laptops, phones, etc.).
